I put up a horror story about 5 days ago. I had never written horror before, so this was a big deal for me. In it are 3 short stories. It is making its rounds on kindle unlimited. I was feeling inspired, so I started working on a new title. It's called The Loveless Files. Anyway, this title is being grabbed up and it's doing better than every poetry book I have ever put out. I have been checking daily to see if anybody put reviews up and I saw today that I got a 2-star rating.
I am glad it left an impression enough on somebody to read it. Good or bad, someone leaving a review means they took the time to read your book, and it made them feel something.
This is not my first low review. I have gotten a 1 star on a poetry book before. The person didn't leave any feedback on why, but point is this isn't my first bad review. That being said, I saw the 2 star and my first thought was to take the book down LOL... but I am not going to do that.
I am not sure why that was my first thought really. I guess I just got embarrassed because I wasn't expecting it. It just means when I make another attempt at horror. I have to do a bit better or do something different. If more reviews come in and they are in general, pretty low...it just means horror may not be my genre. Time will tell!
Anyways The Loveless files follows a morally grey mind reader who works as a psychologist. I am extremely excited for it. I have two drafts done. I am working on the third and final.
I have already made the cover.
Doing it all by myself definitely probably lowers the quality of my work but I don't have the money to pay a cover designer, publisher, or editor. Hopefully one day I will.
